Warnings and Cautions |
| WARNING: Use of this product on a fire escape window in New York City is illegal, could be a serious safety hazard and could result in a fine by the Department of Buildings. Some communities require a quick means of easy escape from window guards in some applications. Check your local codes. For maximum safety, anyone who might need to open this guard in case of emergency should be familiar with opening procedure through personal practice. All parts should be checked from time to time to see that all is in good working order. Sterling Window Security Guards when properly installed will tend to discourage illegal intruders. But no protection is absolute. With enough time and tools a determined criminal can defeat any barrier. |
| WARNING: SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Window guards should not be installed on windows providing access to fire escapes because use of guards on these windows may cause fire entrapment. 2. In an emergency any window may become a potential avenue of escape or rescue. For maximum safety we recommend use of the Fire Safety Release Pin (included in package) or a Remote Safety Release Lock (sold separately). 3. Refer to size label of front of package for maximum recommended window size. |
| CAUTION: Do not install this guard in a window that is larger that the manufacturer's recommended size. To do so may result in the guard's being ineffective in preventing falls from the window. Guard must be securely fastened into window framing members and wall studs in good condition. Window guard may fall out or will not function properly if installed incorrectly or if applied to the wrong type of window. |
